Jonathan Cox

I use the medium of clay as a canvas just as a painter would do. This gives me an opportunity to express my long-held interest in the natural world. The shapes I make evolve from folding white earthenware clay to create vessels such as vases, bowls and plaques from small to large. I tubeline the outline of the design then paint with underglaze colours. The work often has to undergo several firings before the lustre effects are finally revealed.
