Kyra Mihailovic

My work in high-fired stoneware and porcelain explores form, colour and pattern to create relatively small-scale work with a strong visual impact that may provoke pleasure when viewed and used. Texture, weight, balance, scale, and durability are all important components of my work. After throwing and turning on the wheel each piece is painted by hand in ceramic colours and oxides before biscuit firing; all my work is glazed internally in a second firing, with most pieces exteriors left unglazed.
