Stunning shapes are hand thrown in porcelain or stoneware, using strong contrasting colours. Coloured slips are layered in the leather hard clay. Once bisque fired, transparent glaze is applied, then wax resist is painted on, either in patterns or as drawing to wrapping the dancing figures around the vessel. The ware is then dipped in the rich black glaze and fired to 1300 C so as to make the glazes interact.
