I make sculptural vessels in stoneware clay, made directly on the wheel or constructed from thrown slabs, which retain a springy velocity. Cylinders are compressed and a slab base added. This gives two wider surfaces for decoration. Layers of interactive glazes are applied by dipping, pouring and spraying. By observing the way different glazes react together, I have built up a repertoire of combinations that are suggestive of landscapes when fired in electric or wood kilns.
